Our scene for this incredible plot is the historic cathedral town of Southwell. Our hero, The Hearty Goodfellow has built up an enviable reputation over recent years for their warm hospitality, fine real-ales and wonderful home-cooked meals. But never one to stand still, landlady Lisa White was determined to elevate the profile of our hero to ‘super’ status and win over even more business for the pub. The weapon of choice; a new website. Something only years of experience could equip us to deliver and to talk through every step with confidence.
So what stood in their way we hear you ask ? Cue… Dr Time. Assuming the role of villain, this evil character stole precious time away from Lisa and her team, without them even noticing. Running the kitchen, planning upcoming events, staff rotas, keeping the place spick and span.. never mind looking after the loyal customers; these are the ingredients Dr Time liked to feed on.
As well as this precious time being sapped away from their grasp, there were other forces beyond the control of our hero. In our tech-savvy environment, increasingly more decisions to book a table are done based on first impressions online. Customers demand the ability to see what’s on the menu at a glance on the latest smartphone, and to be kept up-to-date on all special offers. We’ve become an instant society.
Faced with this, our hero battled their own demons. They had worries over what content needed go on a new website, and how they’d ever find the time of day to embark on it in the first place. Concerns over whether they’d see any results, and the limitations of cashflow ruled out paying a large some of money.
Thankfully though, our hero needn’t have feared as these were all easily overcome. Our wealth of knowledge specialising in the public house sector, years of industry experience, and a great number of websites to our name meant we were able to take their hand and guide them through. As for Dr Time, well, he wasn’t such a monster. In fact, he turned out to be pretty insignificant in the end. We left our hero to do what they do best, and they left us to do what we do best. As Lisa will testify, the structured process took up very little of their time, and a new website was duly served in only 4 weeks, from start to finish.
“We’re not sure quite what you’ve done with our new website, but we’ve been so inundated with bookings our next biggest challenge is managing all the enquiries !”
Lisa White - Landlady, The Hearty Goodfellow
‘Super’ status, we hear you question ? Well, aside from winning ‘Website of the Month’ earlier this year with Heart Internet, our hero has avoided the pitfalls of a misconceived reputation (the old site was very out-of-date!), and avoided loss of revenue. In fact, it was only last month the pub was completely booked out for a private event that it had to be closed to the general public for the morning !
